Description Vintage studio art glass by Peter Goss. Circa 1979. Measures 9cm x 8cm diameter. Peter Goss, a born Londoner (1943) and former Royal Marine, found his true calling in Australia as a glass artist. He migrated to Australia in 1973 and after a short stint as a motor mechanic, dived into the world of glass art at Adelaide, South Australia’s famous Jam Factory under the guidance of Sam Herman & Stanislav Melis. Peter’s talent led him to establish Paraison Studio Glass in Tewantin in 1981, thanks to a Workshop Development Grant from the Crafts Board of the Australia Council. Peter Goss is best known as Queensland’s pioneering hot-work studio glass artist. Many pieces encapsulate his love for the coastal environment, with each piece reflecting the intricate details of sea shells and coral formations. Locally sourced ironbark timber moulds, result in asymmetrical shapes and textured appearances that are distinctly Peter’s own. Peter closed Paraison Studios in 1991.
