Sarah Gamp is a high spirited Old Cockney sketchily trained nurse & midwife who is as enthusiastic at laying out a corpse as she is at delivering a baby. She became a stereotype of untrained and incompetent nurses of the early Victorian era, before the reforms of campaigners like Florence Nightingale.
