Operation Bernhard German forged British Ten Pound Note is 1934 issue. During WWII almost perfect forgeries of Bank of England Pound notes were produced by prisoners in a German concentration camp. The enterprise was code named Operation Bernhard. The following occur: 5, 10, 20, 50 pound notes with different dates, also including branch office issues such as Leeds and Bristol. They come with signatures of Catterns or Peppiat. There are a number of very small but discernible differences between the Operation Bernhard counterfeits and genuine notes. For example, most counterfeits have a dull look in Britania’s eyes and less clarity on the cross at top of her crown.
