Description Vintage commemorative souvenier porcelain plaque – City of Berlin 700 year anniversary in 1937. Founded in 1237, Berlin was (as still is), the capital city of Germany during the Third Reich. The Berlin Coat of Arms features a brown bear. Travelling to Berlin with a group of teddy bear collectors in the early 2000’s our walking tour guide had been on a quest & found all the Berlin bears in the old town area for us to admire & count. I forget how many there were, but it was a lot. Next year in 2027 Berlin will celebrate its 790th Anniversary. The porcelain plaque made by a Berlin manufacturer comes in its presentation box. The back of the plaque reads loosely As thanks to the memory of the Imperial Capital. The plaque measures 11.5cm x 6cm. There is no damage. The 32 page book takes the reader on a journey back to 1297 through to 1937. The final chapter is dedicated to the NSDAP Party’s achievements since it came to power in 1933 – how it had shown to the world just one year earlier in 1936, how great Berlin & Germany had become since WWI by hosting the Olympics and how great Berlin & Germany would remain under the leadership of Adolf Hitler. A quick print Google translation of the final chapter in English will come with the book & plaque. There’s a great black & white clip on British Pathe You Tube site documenting one of the huge parades through Berlin’s streets, with thousands of people lining the parade route.
